The Free Google Tools Every SEO Toolkit Should Include

Search Console, PageSpeed Insights and Analytics: what each free Google tool actually tells you, and how they fit together.

Before reaching for any paid SEO platform, it's worth knowing that Google itself gives away several genuinely useful, completely free tools — and they're the ones that see your actual data, not estimates.

Google Search Console

This is the closest thing to ground truth for how Google sees your site: which queries you actually rank for, your click-through rate, indexing status, and any manual actions or crawl errors. If you only adopt one free Google tool, this is the one — it's the only source here that shows real (not estimated) search performance data for your own site.

PageSpeed Insights / Core Web Vitals

Page speed is a confirmed ranking factor, and PageSpeed Insights gives you both lab data (a simulated test) and, for sites with enough traffic, real-world Core Web Vitals data from Chrome users. It also gives specific, actionable fixes rather than just a score.

Google Analytics

Search Console tells you how you're found; Analytics tells you what happens after someone lands on your site — bounce behavior, conversion paths, which content actually keeps people reading. The two are complementary, not overlapping.

Google Rich Results Test

If you're adding structured data (FAQ schema, product schema, HowTo schema and so on) this tool validates it against Google's actual eligibility requirements — useful for catching a malformed script before it silently fails.

The bottom line

These four cost nothing, and unlike third-party estimation tools, three of them are showing you your own real data rather than a modeled guess. They're worth setting up before you consider anything paid.
